I was blessed to know Ed Hargitt for almost 30 years. I found him to be enormously interesting in conversations and always learned from him. We shared many moments of laughter together and once I had teased him by calling him "the Professor". The next time he held forth in a discussion on some subject of interest, he stopped mid-way of a sentance and said "The teacher is speaking, pay attention!" How like Ed to inject humor and his dry wit into a discussion. At such a moment, his eyes would sparkle and he enjoyed sharing a laugh or a tease. I have many memories of his consideration and kindness. He is missed but will always be remembered fondly.
